October 25, 2011 13 Nights of Hallowe'en 2011: Night 7 Halloween (2007)
Here it is, the remake of Halloween. Malcolm McDowell tackled the role of Dr. Loomis. Malcolm has been in Cat People (1982), Firestarter 2: Rekindled (2002), and will be in Silent Hill: Revelation 3D (2012). Scout Taylor-Compton is the new Laurie Strode and can also be seen in the direct to video release of the April Fool's Day (2008) remake. Tyler Mane is the adult Michael Myers in and out of the mask. He was also in X-Men (2000), and uncredited in The Devil's Rejects (2005). Sheri Moon Zombie is in the vastly expanded role of Deborah Myers, Michael's mother. Sheri has been in House of 1000 Corpses (2003), Toolbox Murders (2004), The Devil's Rejects (2005), Grindhouse (2007), The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (2009), and the forthcoming The Lords of Salem (2012).
William Forsythe is Deborah's boyfriend or some such. William has been in Virtuosity (1995), The Devil's Rejects, and the Masters of Horror (2005) in We All Scream for Ice Cream in 2007. He will also be in forthcoming projects such as Inkubus (2011)--with
Robert Englund, so I can hardly wait--Infected (2011), The Ghost Club (2011), and what may be an anthology movie, The Witching Hour (2011)--rumored at one point to have Dee Wallace cast. Dee Wallace plays Laurie's mother, Cynthia Strode. Dee is a horror staple going back to The Stepford Wives (1975), and continuing with other big names like The Hills Have Eyes (1977), The Howling (1981), Cujo (1983), Critters (1986), Popcorn (1991), The Frighteners (1996), Boo (2005), an episode of Ghost Whisperer (2005) in 2007, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, and soon in The Lords of Salem.
Danielle Harris is Laurie's friend Annie Brackett. Danielle got her horror start young with Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988), and Halloween 5 (1989). She was in a first season episode of Eerie, Indiana (1991). She has also been in Urban Legend (1998), the horror Left for Dead (2007)--there's a western too that year--Blood Night (2009)
with Bill Moseley, The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2009), Fear Clinic (2009), Hatchet II (2010), Stake Land (2010), ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 (2011), and will be in Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D (2011) again with Bill Moseley, The Ghost of Goodnight Lane (2012) and potentially Hatchet III (2012). Annie is Sheriff Brackett's daughter. The Sheriff is played by another horror staple, Brad Dourif. Brad has been in Eyes of Laura Mars (1978), Child's Play (1988) and all of its sequels, Spontaneous Combustion (1990), The Exorcist III (1990), Graveyard Shift (1990), Critters 4 (1992), an episode of The X Files (1993) in 1994, Death Machine (1994)--a favourite of mine--an episode of Millennium (1996) in 1997, uncredited in Urban Legend (1998), The Prophecy 3: The Ascent (2000), Soulkeeper (2001), Pulse (2006), The Wizard of Gore (2007), Priest (2011), and an episode of Fringe (2008) in 2011.
Kristina Klebe plays another of Laurie's friend and has also been in Zone of the Dead (2009), and Chillerama (2011). Danny Trejo has a small part in Halloween. You may have seen Danny in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) and the two sequels, Anaconda (1997), an episode of The X-Files in 2000, All Souls Day: Dia de los Muertos (2005), The Devil's Rejects, The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005), Grindhouse, Alone in the Dark II (2008), The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, and starring in Machete (2010). Bill Moseley is on hand as well--just look back to Night 1 The Blob (1988). Last but certainly not least is this Halloween's writer and director Rob Zombie. Rob also wrote and directed House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, a piece/fake trailer in Grindhouse, Halloween II (2009), The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, and his next film The Lords of Salem. Speaking of this film's sequel, Malcolm McDowell, Scout Taylor-Compton, Tyler Mane, Sheri Moon Zombie, Danielle Harris, Brad Dourif, and Rob Zombie all return for Halloween II (2009).
