October 24, 2011 13 Nights of Hallowe'en 2011: Night 6 The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
The Hills Have Eyes (2006) certainly has a good number of connections between it actors and creators in the movies and series they have been involved with. Topping the list for The Hills Have Eyes is Aaron Stanford who was in the episode Echoes of Fear Itself (2009), which was directed by Rupert Wainwright from last night. Just for reference
Aaron was Pyro from X-men 2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). Kathleen Quinlan as Ethel was in Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) and Event Horizon (1997). Emilie de Ravin of Lost (2004) is in here. She started off playing the Demon Curupira in BeastMaster (1999) before moving on to an alien in Roswell (1999) in 2000. She even played Chris Hargensen in the TV remake of Carrie (2002)--a fairly bad movie/mini-series. Then we have Dan Byrd. He was in Firestarter 2: Rekindled (2002), R.L. Stine's TV series The Nightmare Room (2001) in 2002, and the 'Salem's Lot (2004) remake. He also starred in the movie Mortuary (2005)--I need to check that one out--and was on Ghost Whisperer (2005) in 2007.
Tom Bower has a small part. He was in an episode of The X-Files (1993) in 1999, was in an episode of Roswell in 2000, the Stephen King movie Hearts in Atlantis (2001), Thr3e (2006), and The Killer Inside Me (2010). Next is Billy Drago as Papa Jupiter. Billy was in Vamp (1986), an episode of the Friday the 13th (1987) TV series in 1988, and the TV
series Monsters (1988) in 1989. He can also be seen in Mirror, Mirror III: The Voyeur (1995) and Mirror, Mirror IV: Reflection (2000), The X Files in 2000, Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004), an episode of Supernatural (2005) in 2008, Children of the Corn: Genesis (2011), and is set to be in Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem (2012) with Dee Wallace from the original The Hills Have Eyes (1977). Desmond Askew plays Big Brain and was in an episode of Roswell in 2001, and Turistas (2006). Ezra Buzzington is Goggle and he was in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) in 2000, and Mirrors (2008). Michael Bailey Smith plays Pluto and was Super Freddy in A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child (1989), and episode of The X Files in 1999, Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 2000, Roswell in 2001, a movie I may have to check out called Monster Man (2003), and The Hills Have Eyes II (2007) as a different local.
Laura Ortiz as Ruby was uncredited in Hatchet II (2010), and appears in Chillerama (2011). Robert Joy plays Lizard and goes back to Amityville 3-D (1983), and on to The Dark Half (1993), Fallen (1998), Land of the Dead (2005), and AVPR: Aliens vs Predator - Requiem (2007). Then we have Ted Levine who plays Big Bob Carter, head of the family. Ted of course was Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs (1991). He also starred in The Mangler (1995)--one of my favourites--Wild Wild West (1999), was the voice of Rusty Nail in Joy Ride (2001), and was in Shutter Island (2010). Now for an absolutely huge name in horror, Gregory Nicotero, one of the masters from special effects studio KNB, of which he is the N. He plays Cyst in Hills Have Eyes. I won't even try to list his work with effects. Greg has writing and directing credit for episodes of The Walking Dead (2011)--also played at least one zombie. He's also been an actor in Day of the Dead (1985); uncredited in Night of the Creeps (1986) and Halloween 5 (1989); Body Bags (1993), From Dusk Till Dawn (1996); again uncredited in House on Haunted Hill (1999) and Cursed (2005); Land of the Dead (2005), Cemetery Gates (2006), Diary of the Dead (2007), and Piranha (2010). Grégory Levasseur did screenplay work for not only Hills, but also P2 (2007), and Mirrors (2008). Meanwhile Hills' director Alexandre Aja also has writing credit for his, and P2 and Mirrors. Alexandre also directed Mirrors, and Piranha.
