Blaise Aguera y Arcas demos augmented-reality maps (video 8:14)
  • This same video appeared over at TechStop™ where more technical and practical aspects were discussed. The first implications here go to the great wealth of information that this will give to stalkers and anyone looking to keep tabs on someone else. Thieves will use it to know when you're home and where in the house you are if you add in lifecasting functionality. It is even more invaluable for invaders looking to break in and terrorise you. The mobile, over the air manner in which the information gets around makes it easier to use than home security cameras. On a more esoteric line of thought the ability to see archival footage of an area could be used as an easier inducement for a psychic to push a victim into a delusion or waking nightmare. Technological horrors of the dystopian kind spring readily from this as well.
