October 26, 2012 13 Nights of Hallowe'en 2012: Night #8 Haunting at the Beacon (2009)
Tonight is going to be different. Haunting at the Beacon (2009), also known just as The Beacon, rolls along like a normal horror movie and then BAM out of the blue it explodes into a massive ball of awesome WTF, [expletives deleted]! Here is what the movie is about. Bryn and Paul Shaw move to a new apartment after the loss of their young son. Bryn is still struggling with his death, but is certain that a boy haunts the building, and she wants him to take a message to her son. The ghostly boy isn't alone at the Beacon though...
Teri Polo plays Bryn Shaw and has appeared on Tales from the Crypt (1989) (TV), The Outer Limits (1995) (TV), and Ghost Whisperer (2005) (TV). David Rees Snell plays the husband Paul and has no other pertinent credits. Elaine Hendrix plays Vanessa Carver the former TV star living in the building. Elaine too has appeared on Ghost Whisperer (TV). The police become involved as Bryn tries to uncover what happened to the boy. Ken Howard plays Officer Bobby Ford and was on Ghost Whisperer (TV). Then there is Michael Ironside as Lieutenant Hutton. Michael can be seen in Scanners (1981), V: The Final Battle (1984) (TV), V (1984) (TV: full season), Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987), Total Recall (1990), Highlander II: The Quickening (1991), Tales from the Crypt (TV), SeaQuest DSV (1993) (TV), Starship Troopers (1997), Stargate SG-1 (1997) (TV), The Outer Limits (TV), Children of the Corn: Revelation (2001), Andromeda (2000) (TV), Masters of Horror (2005) (TV), Lake Placid 3 (2010), X-Men: First Class (2011), and R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour (2010) (TV).
Also involved in the film is Marnette Patterson as Bryn's sister. Marnette was a child actor in A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child (1989), and more recently in Supernatural (2005) (TV), Ghosts of Goldfield (2007), and Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (2008). That's it for the cast leaving only Michael Stokes the writer and director. Michael has nothing else to list of interest at this time despite the good showing here.
