Wolf
Publisher Will Randall while returning home from New England
accidentally runs over an animal in the road. He gets out of his
car to see it and remove it from the road before it causes an accident
on the snowy road. It is a wolf and as he is moving it out of
the way it bites him and then gets up and lopes away. Will gets
home, sleeps through the entire next day and wakes up feeling like a
million bucks. It wasn't just any wolf though it was a werewolf
and Will begins to change. His senses become acute and he leaves
behind his tiredness and his meekness. He is becoming like the
wolf, its spirit is with him.
This movie is a dramatic look at the werewolf legends rather than
the usual monster film. It's about what it is like to straddle
the line between man and animal. It is about the often-ignored
power and grace of the animal within. This is a good movie.
The excitement is there. The sense of wonder is there.
The mystery sort of flops when it comes to the major plot hook
and the climax while entertaining sort of fails the "higher" premise
of the rest of the movie. Still the acting is very good, the
dialog isn't too bad, and the special effects while subdued as a
matter of style fit perfectly.
