American Pie 2
The guys are back after a year of college. While everything
should have changed not much has. They find themselves in much
the same situation as they had before the end of high school. To
try and alleviate the problem they get together and rent a place just
off of the beach. When Jim finds out that Nadia is coming back
to America to see him he hooks back up with Michelle, from band camp,
who he wants to teach him how to be more suave and practised so he
doesn't look like a total loser for Nadia. Meanwhile Finch is
still pining away for Stifler's mother, Kevin deals with just being
friends with Vicky, and Oz handles a long distance relationship.
Stifler himself is well, Stifler.
American Pie 2 is a good sequel. The film is funny, and jam
packed with that nostalgia inducing stuff that made the first film.
The humour is only more M for mature, and paced out nicely.
It ranges from downright hilarious to the almost slapstick.
Eugene Levy as Jim's father isn't given nearly the chance to
keep us in stitches as he was in the first film. The acting
overall is good. The dialogue is fair, and the direction quiet
and unassuming as if its just people doing their things. There
are some of those nice dramatic touches that really help to bring the
film up to that next level that many comedies never achieve. The
lyrical soundtrack does most of the work of the musical score and is
exceedingly good. The interior sets were good, and the exterior
locations while limited were also good. American Pie 2 definitely
makes a person want to collect all three films.
