Spider-man 2 (2004) - Sam Raimi

Two years have passed since the events of the first film.  Peter Parker is having a rough time of things.  Nothing seems to be working out. He can't seem to keep a job.  His school work is suffering.  It's just running him ragged being Spider-man.  While Peter has to struggle with the fact that being a hero is ruining his life trouble is brewing elsewhere.  Dr. Otto Octavius is trying to create a self-sustaining fusion reaction.  When the testing of the process goes awry Dr. Octavius ends up with his mechanical tentacle harness fused to his spine.  Scarred mentally by the accident

and the influence of the harness's own artificial intelligence Doctor Octopus is born.  It's up to Spider-man to put a stop to Doc Ock's insane plan to rebuild his fusion experiment.  The experiement will put the entire city at risk, but is Spider-man up to it?

Spider-man 2 is absolutely stunning.  Sam Raimi proves more than ever that he is an Emperor among directors.  It's monumental.  It's stupendous.  It has heart wrenching drama.  It has mind blowing action.  Spider-man fans are wetting themselves it's so great.  Spidey is in top form with the best moves we've ever seen outside of the comics.  He's crazy agile the way that he should be.  The comics are brought to stunning life.  The action is balanced out by the drama, the drama is balanced out by incredibly deft funny parts.  The story is phenomenal from its steady measured start to its furiously paced multiple climaxes.  The acting is great.  To say anything more about the directing would be pure brown-nosing.  Danny Elfman's musical score is excellent.  The sets and locations were great.  Spider-man 2 is an absolute must see.
