Street Fighter
Street Fighter is the movie version of the popular video game of
the same name. The story revolves around a master criminal, last
name of Bison, who has captured Allied Nations relief workers and is
ransoming them for an exorbitant amount of money. Bison is a
madman who has appointed himself Dictator and General of a country
that doesn't exist yet but will as soon as the money comes in from the
simpering Allied Nations. Out to stop him are A.N. Colonel Guile
and his troops, and a rag-tag trio who all want to see Bison dead.
Thrown into the mix are another two staple characters from the
game that get caught up in the conflict.
This movie is pure and utter cheese. It's aimed at a younger
audience than the group that badmouths it. It's full of corny
dialog, hair-brained schemes, and lots of crazed performances that are
totally tongue in cheek. The locations are nice and the sets
interesting. The fight choreography is fairly simplistic and so
is the plot. Still it is a great bad movie to stare at in utter
disbelief or heckle like crazy. People say it is such a shame
that it was Raul Julia's final film before his death but it looks like
he enjoyed every minute of it. It is certainly a fun film for
the younger crowd, the less discerning, and anyone who loves a really
bad B-movie.
