Jeepers Creepers
Two college students, brother and sister, going to different
schools, head out for home together and are badly frightened by a large
colour-splotched but mostly green truck that tailgates them honking its
sinister sounding horn and weaving back and forth across the road.
The truck finally passes them and disappears off into the
distance. A little further down the road they see the truck
parked beside a boarded up building and they see something they
shouldn't. From there this tense and already harrowing movie
descends into greater horror and vicious merry-making. To say more
would be to give up too much and more than enough has been said already.
Jeepers Creepers is probably the best, and most frightening film to
come out since The Blair Witch Project, and is comparable to the
greats such as the Exorcist and Evil Dead. The story starts off
with some good characterisation and then the first scare hits and
the film brilliantly rolls in waves between calm to the downright
harrowing. A little bit of the greatness is lost near the end
with the revelation of the creature but not so much as to ruin the
film. The locations and sets in this film are amazing (not quite
so much as say the Devonsville Terror but close to it) and the work
with the animals was spectacular adding huge depth to the tension, and
horror. The acting in this film is stunning and the characters
are believable and well thought out. With the addition of an
excellent moving and ominous musical score this is definitely a must
see for any fan of monster movies, or just plain good old horror.
