The Jackal
After an incident where the Russian police and the FBI kill his
brother in a raid a Russian mob boss hires a professional assassin
nicknamed the Jackal to kill the head of the FBI in America. The
Jackal is one of those assassin's assassin type and almost nobody knows
what he looks like. To track him down and stop him before he can
fulfil his contract the FBI seek out the aid of a former IRA terrorist
kept in an American jail who knows somebody that has
seen the Jackal. The information is of some help but it is very
obvious that only this former IRA man can help them to actually track
down the Jackal and stop him.
The Jackal is a fairly good suspense thriller. The acting is
pretty good with the exception of Bruce Willis who seems to have just
stepped into the role of the Jackal and breathed it real life.
The sets are good and give a fairly good feel of being in the
far separated place they are such as the Russian bar, the
French-Canadian airport, the high security prison, etc. The
dialogue is good and the directing straightforward much so as the film
is. The Jackal has a good pace and some decent special effects.
The Jackal actually manages to build some suspense although it
is not all that thrilling in many spots. Overall there are worse
movies and there are better.
