      Highlander III: The Sorcerer
Taking place some years after the first film and completely ignoring
the second Highlander III finds Connor MacLeod embroiled in yet another
battle to be the One.  After he believed that he had gone through
the final quickening and been given the chance to grow old and to bear
children MacLeod has come to the rude awakening that none of it is
true.  He continues his tortured existence until it becomes clear
that he is not the last immortal.  Back after the death of his
first wife, and his mentor Ramirez, MacLeod made his way to the far
east and across the ocean to Japan where a new mentor taught him even
more and gave him his katana.  Another immortal named Kane and
his two flunkies came to kill the old Japanese man and to take his
magic talents of illusion by taking his head.  The old man has
revenge on Kane after he loses his head to the man and brings down the
cave upon them.  MacLeod escapes and back to the "present" has to
face a released Kane, but will he be the One finally?

Highlander III is a fairly good film but nothing special.  The
acting is all right and Mario Van Peebles is good in his role.
The story follows a good pace and has a fair mix of well timed
flashbacks that explain the finer details of what is going on as well
as forming a pretext for the romantic sub-plot.  Still the film
is fairly predictable although there are a few surprises here and
there.  The scenes with the magic and illusions are well done and
add some flavour and interest to the film that it otherwise would not
have.  The vocal soundtrack is par for the course as is the
musical score and of course a let down from the work by Queen in the
first one.
