Halloween Resurrection
This eighth instalment of the popular Halloween franchise begins
three years after the conclusion of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (#7).
Laurie Strode must face off against Michael for a final time.
This time things will be different. A new reality show is
going to be filmed in the old boarded up Myers house. Six people
have been selected to spend a night in the house and investigate what
may have caused Michael to begin his reign of terror and murder.
Each person is equipped with a compact camera on a simple
headgear and other cameras are placed strategically around the house.
The audience (in the movie) will be able to tune in on the
internet and switch between cameras however they wish and focus on who
ever they want. Michael is not too happy about the arrangement
and goes about his usual "work" as the show films.
Halloween Resurrection brings forth a movie that is much truer to
the original vision of the first two movies. Mind you there is
blood though it is not the focus like other films. It's more
horror than slasher. The tension is back, along with the fear,
and of course expectancy of Michael around every corner. The
direction is good, the acting is good if not spectacular, and the
atmosphere is there. The set for the Myers house is really good
but some of the autumn atmosphere shots elsewhere seem ever so slightly
made up. The film has a good musical score that adds to the film
in all of the right places. The script could have been tightened
a little more in a few places and made what is a decently tense film
into something more powerful. As such it lacks that extra oomph
but still on that level this eighth film isn't too shabby even if
compared to the first film.
