The Exorcist II
The Exorcist II is the continuation of the first movie of the same
name. It is four years after the initial events of the Exorcist.
Regan is working with a psychologist to deal with the repressed
feelings and guilt that she feels over the events which she does not
even clearly remember. Father Lamont is charged with the chore
of trying to find out exactly how it was that Father Merrin died.
He contacts Regan's psychologist and then Regan herself.
However in his investigation he finds out that the shadow of
Pasuzu has never truly left her. Now he must find a way to rid
the girl of the terrible evil once and for all.
The Exorcist II is an excellent horror movie once the viewer can
look through or past certain problems. For one the dialogue is
laughable and has a definite affect on the acting. Second there
is a little bit of overzealous use of stronger, and ultimately annoying,
pieces of the musical score and its accompanying choral component.
Put simply sometimes there is too much shouting and screaming in
the soundtrack for too long in places. Once that is set aside this
becomes a very good movie with much (not all though) of the pervasive
chilliness and innate fear of the first film. As far as sequels
goes this one is half that of the original but considering the source
this is not particularly a bad thing.
