Evolution
Evolution is about an alien biological invasion in a town in Arizona.
A meteorite falls from the sky and breaks into an underground
cavern. When local college professors go out to the site and take
a sample they find that there is liquid inside of the rock. They
take some of the rock and some of the liquid. The liquid contains
single-cell organisms that turn out to have a high duplication rate
and over the course of just hours begin to evolve. Soon there
are alien creatures all over the place and the army is involved and
building up towards a cover up. It falls upon the two college
professors to become unlikely heroes and save the world from being over
run by aliens.
Evolution in many ways seems to almost be as much a sci-fi movie as
it is comdey. The humour ranges from the dry and witty to the
absurd and slapstick. It has a good blend of comedy, drama, and
a little bit of action. The movie doesn't try very hard and sort
of coasts along. Still this doesn't detract from the film and
some of it is very funny. The characters are well thought out,
acted out very well, but don't really have the kind of get up and go
to be excellent. The special effects are good with very
believable looking creatures. All in all Evolution was everything
it was cracked up to be but nothing more.
