Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever
A deadly woman assassin named Sever kidnaps the child of the head
of the DIA (a sort of replacement for the NSA). Ex-FBI agent
Jeremiah Ecks is dragged back into duty to find the boy with the
promise that he will learn where his wife he long thought was dead is
actually still living. Caught in the middle are the DIA head's
lackeys, the rest of the FBI, and the police. To further
complicate matters a dangerous "micro-device" that can kill a person
and leave no trace has been stolen and is somehow involved. As
Ecks and Sever battle it out through the city the DIA agents only add
to the confusion as they try and kill both of them and it quickly
becomes anyone's game.
Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever is an action packed special effects
riddled movie with only a little extra. The plot is thin in a few
places and some of the twists don't exactly make perfect sense.
On the action front there is some great gun play, lots of pretty
explosions and a couple of excellent massacres. The fight
choreography for the martial arts scenes is fairly good though nothing
extra special. The acting is fair except in what should be the
more emotional scenes where instead it is flat. It's not exactly
certain if this is on purpose or not. The interior sets and
exterior locations are nothing special. The musical score is much
the same as the settings and there isn't really a lyrical soundtrack.
All in all this film is best for watching things get shot up or
blown up.
