Book of Shadows: Blair Witch Project 2
Book of Shadows is a sequel to the Blair Witch Project that takes
place in the real world, as in where Blair Witch is a movie that
played in theatres. A group of people go on a guided tour of the
places where the film was made around Burkittsville. They take a
bunch of cameras and tape everything they do. While they are out
in the woods something weird happens and all of their stuff is ruined
except for the video tapes. They return to the tour guide's
house to try to piece together what happened. Something weird
did happen and continues to happen as they try to unravel the mystery.
This is a normal movie instead of a documentary style film.
The footage from their videos looks too good to be actual
non-movie footage and the film includes both a musical score and a
lyrics soundtrack. This sequel is missing most of the tension
of the first film, but that is not saying much. The characters
are a likeable bunch of freaks and misfits. The acting is all
right but not up to the standard of the first film. The scares,
if there are any real ones, are sort of flat and not given the proper
kind of hype or oomph, as if they are to be frightening all on their
own, and they aren't. Still, taken on its own this is fair
horror movie and less reliant on expensive and over numerous special
effects.
