Bats
Bats is about a series of attacks by what seem to be man-eating
bats around the town of Gallup Texas. The CDC (Center for
Disease Control), a genetic scientist, and a bat specialist and her
companion are called in to assess the situation. Together with
the local police they go about trying to track down and capture a pair
of test animals that escaped from the genetic scientist's lab.
Quickly they find out the trouble is a lot bigger, the two
escaped animals have infected a tremendous number of other bats.
Now it's not just an easy little job and a lot more than a
couple of lives are at stake.
The movie is well paced and keeps things interesting. The
story unfolds as it goes adding more to the danger and the horror.
There is some mystery in the film as well because of course more
than meets the eye is going on. The acting is okay but not award
winning. There is a slight lacking on the emotional part in the
character portrayals. The film does avoid being camp and there
isn't really any humour unless it is the exasperated kind for people
who should know better doing idiotic things. This is one of the
better animals gone amok movies.
