The 6th Day

The 6th Day is a sci-fi action vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger.  In it the science of genetic cloning has taken off and people can get organs replaced or even their family pet if it dies.  However due to the complexity of the work and the morality of whether it is right to even try the cloning of human beings have been banned.  Someone is breaking the rules though and cloning people.  There are anti-cloning factions who want all of the work to be stopped.  Some of them are willing to kill over it, especially when they discover but can't prove that humans are being cloned.  Adam Gibson (Arnie) ends up cloned himself and finds out that he has been replaced.  His clone is in his house celebrating his own birthday with his wife.  People show up at the house and tell him that since he is the second one to arrive at the house then he is to be killed.  The movie rocks along from there.

This movie is relatively fast paced, has a few twists and turns, and has a dark sense of humour.  It is well acted for an action flick but comes up a little short on emotion both from the actors, and from the audience.  It's set in a future not too far from ours but it is also grounded in the time it was filmed by poor decisions in the use of commercial endorsements (like having the XFL in it).  Being an Arnie movie, and having more than one of him, it can't help but feel at least partially like a re-tread of Total Recall except with a lacking (comparatively) script.  It certainly lacks the violence and panache of the former film but on its own it stands up well enough.
