October 29, 2014 13 Nights of Hallowe'en 2014: Night #11 House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
We're getting close now. Tonight I have maybe the most hard core of this year's movies. Beyond that House of 1000 Corpses is very much a rock video horror movie. It's okay to admit that. There's nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with the results of that aesthetic. It is the movie it wants to be. I also have to admit that its one of those two movies mashed together films where it suddenly changes at one point. That's okay too if it works. I think this time it works.
House of 1000 Corpses is also very much a throwback to an earlier time in film history. This was intentional and was done exceptionally well. Among all the things to note about this movie I shouldn't mention that the sequel is even better yet. Save it for another night, watch House of 1000 Corpses tonight and revel in the noveau past.
