RoboDynamics Reveals Hard Truth About Telepresence Robots
- Some of this is surprising. From the security concerns, to the amount
of time it takes for people to call the robot by the person's name, to the subtle differences that make it--as
the article says--more than a roaming webcam conversation. This is all looking at the business
applications of these telepresence robots. What about their use in more personal settings? It does briefly
mention their use for care of the elderly. That should only be the tip of the iceberg for social
interactions beyond the office and the water cooler--a funny and interesting idea in and of itself at this
point.
